Livid

An Old Dark House, an asthmatic old woman, and a handful of French small-time criminals who wish to take advantage of her (alleged) wealth. LIVID is built like a box of tricks with dozens of hidden compartments and double walls, firmly rooted in a “palace of nostalgia” for the most captivating magician of phantasmagorical film: Dario Argento. Maury and Bustillo have returned to both their homeland and their craft after a series of failed US-projects, and here they simply allow their dark imaginations to run wild, despite (or perhaps even because of) their modest production budget. What results is an intoxicating injection of fresh blood, directly into the veins of supernatural horror; a beautiful nightmare with a Ballet-dancing vampire, who shines in all the colours of the night. We are pleased to present these two early films, as well as their latest masterwork, AMONG THE LIVING, with directors Julien Maury, Alexandre Bustillo, and Béatrice Dalle in attendance as special guests.
