After a serious car accident that kills her husband, the pregnant photographer Sarah moves back home to her family house on the outskirts of Paris. One evening, a black-clad stranger breaks in and attempts to cut the unborn child from Sarah’s belly. So begins a battle of life and death, animalistic, unfathomable and beautiful. The directorial debut of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo is a precisely formulated and highly stylized piece of shock cinema: the drastic effects of violence and the eerily romantic placement of shadow and light already reveals that there are not one, but two masters at work.
